THAI LANGUAGE LESSONS
L8(h) - 'tao rai' - How Much?

'tao rai' - is the Thai word for 'how much?' Like most Thai question words, it usually comes at the end of a sentence.

A little more vocabulary:

som oranges
yai big

Let's look at some of examples:

nee tao rai ? - how much is this?

som tao rai ? - how much are the oranges?

nee yai tao rai ? - how big is this?

Note that 'tao rai' is used when we are asking how much in a general form rather than specifying a unit of measure.

When we are asking for a specific unit of measure we will use the Thai word 'gee' which is the equivalent to 'how many' and covered in the next lesson.
