Bang Tao Beach
This is a magnificent eight-kilometer stretch of glorious sand. It is the site of the Laguna complex, so named because there are several lagoons close to the beach. The complex consists of five up-market hotels and a golf course. This complex dominates the central area of the beach.
At the south end of the beach are a number of hotels and bungalow operations. This is a good location to find a beach bungalow. There are also plenty of shops and restaurants around this area.
The northern end of the beach is very quiet. At the very north end of the beach on Soi Layan 2 is Layan Beach Restaurant which maintains a block of sun loungers. It is a great spot for a quiet getaway on the beach.

It is generally a good bathing beach. When the tide is in, the centre and north end of the beach slope quite steeply into the water making it a little treacherous for children or non-swimmers.
There are sun loungers spread around. They cost 100 baht each. There are also long stretches of beach with no sun loungers. There are a few jet skis available for hire. There is also windsurfing.
There is a horse-riding club. You will see an occasional group riding along the shoreline.
Casuarina trees and coconut palms fringe the beach giving the entire stretch a lovely unspoiled feel.
The area around Bang Tao has a good range of eating establishments ranging from basic Thai food stalls to up-market restaurants. There are a quite a few housing developments springing up. The developers are touting Bang Tao as a highly desirable residential area.
How to Get There
There is no problem reaching the beach. You can access the beach at lots of locations either south or north of Laguna.
